Use of Hot Water in Naturopathy

Water is the most essential compnent of our body which makes around 70% of an adult and 80% of an infant body mass. According to philosophy of Naturopathy, whole universe as well as human body is composed of five elements i.e. Akash (Space), Vayu (Air), Agni (Fire), Jala (Water) and Prithvi (earth). This water is eliminated from body by various means like sweat, urine, expired air, etc. and has to be refilled by water intake. It is assumed that a healthy person must drink 8-10 glasses of water every day. If a person consumes 4-5% less water than recommended, it can decrease his physical and mental perfromance by up to 20-30%. Water taken even at normal temperature is very good for health but it is supposed that it should be closer to body termperature so that, it could perform its physiological functions in a better way. Hot water cannot be differentiated very much from cold water qualitatively except its hot attribute but it carries valuable therapeutic properties in itself. Generally, we are in practice of taking cold water. Too much cold water can stimulate disorderliness in the different systems of the body. On the other hand, hot water alone is the inexpensive but best remedy itself by improving the efficiency of all the systems of the body.

Properties of Hot Water

Water is the only substance on the earth that is found in all three states of matter i.e. solid, liquid and gaseous state. Water is tasteless, odourless and colourless substance with pH value of 7. Hot water is comparatively lighter than cold water. It's this property makes it easily digestible, better absorbable, more penetrable and quickly portable in the body.

World No Tobacco Day is observed around the world every year on May 31st. The member states of World Health Organisation (WHO) created No Tobacco Day in 1987.
It draws global attention to the widespread prevalence of tobacco use and to its negative health effects. The day aims to reduce the 5.4 million yearly deaths from tobacco-related health problems from 1988. WHO has preented World No Tobacco Day (WNTD) awards to organisations or individuals who made exceptional contributions in reducing tobacco cosumption.

Cigarette Smonking

Tobbaco smoking is the practice where tobacco is burned and the vapours either tasted or inhaled Smoking is the most common method of consuming tobacco, and tobacco is the most common substance smoked.

Pathophysiological effects of smoking

While smoking, harmful substances quickly and effectively deliver into the bloodstream by absorption through the alevoli in the lungs. Some amount of the active substances will be lost in the process of combustion and Pyrolysis.

The inhaled substances trigger chemical reactions in nerve endings. The cholinergic receptiors are often triggered by the naturally occurring neurotransmitter acetylcholine. Acetylcholine and Nicotine have chemical similarities; these nicotinic acetylcholine receptors are located in the central nervous system and the nerve-muscle junction of skeleal muscles; whose activity increases heart rate, alertness, and faster reaction times. Nicotine acetylcholine stimulation is not directly addictiv. Dopamine is released in the process and this release of dopamine, which is associated with pleasure, is reinforcing and may also increase working memory.

There is also a fromation of acetaldehyde in tobacco smoke. This seems to play an important role in nicotine addiction; probably by fcilitating a dopamine release in the nucleus acumens as a response to nicotine stimuli.
